PM Modi's story of a 'cry baby' to TMC's 'chhoo kit kit', Lok Sabha had fun too

The ongoing parliamentary session has snowballed into a full-fledged war or words as MPs continue to throw barbs at each other.

In response to Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi's speech yesterday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday mocked him as having indulged him in childish activities.

In a speech that went on for more than two hours, Modi called Rahul a "cry baby" and said he was seeking sympathy by peddling sob stories.

In remarks that were an apparent swipe at Rahul and his mother Sonia Gandhi, the former longtime Congress President and currently Rajya Sabha MP, Modi narrated a story of a child who complained of what others purportedly did to him but never told her what he did to others.

"Once a child came from school and began crying loudly. His scared mother asked what happened. He said, 'Mother, I was beaten in school. I was beaten by this and that person.' The mother panicked. She asked what the matter was. The child did not tell her what happened but kept crying and complaining," said Modi in Hindi.

Then, Modi went on to list what the child did but did not tell his mother.

"The child was not telling his mother that he abused someone in school, abused someone's mother, stole someone's tiffin, and called his teacher thief. We saw such childish activities in the house yesterday. Yesterday, such 'baalak buddhi' (childish mindset) indulged in 'vilaap' (sob stories)," said Modi.

Earlier in the day, Kalyan Banerjee of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) had also mocked the BJP. He said that while the BJP started the campaign with the promise of 400 seats, the party was reduced to 240 seats by the end of the elections.

Banerjee imitated "chhoo kit kit" that players repeat in some games like kabaddi and just like players' utterances start at a high note and then falls as they run out of breath.
