This Collab Between Three-Michelin-Starred Restaurants Promises a Powerhouse Plant-Based Menu

When two three-Michelin-starred restaurants collab for a two-night dinner series, does that make the meal a six-star experience? Probably not technically, but on August 1 and 2, diners will have a chance to experience a 10-course menu from chef Kyle Connaughton of SingleThread and chef Daniel Humm of Eleven Madison Park, hosted at SingleThread’s home in Healdsburg. The menu is “fully plant-based,” a press release shares, and features produce from around Sonoma County and SingleThread’s own farm.

It’s a powerhouse combination as both restaurants have achieved plenty of accolades since their respective openings. SingleThread is currently part of the World’s 50 Best list for restaurants, landing at No. 46 this year, along with its Michelin star designation. Eleven Madison Park earned the No. 1 position on the World’s 50 Best list in 2017 and maintains its three-star status with Michelin, despite the restaurant flipping to an all-vegan menu with its reopening in 2021. Dinner for this collaboration is priced starting at $485 per person with an optional wine pairing starting at $300 per person. Reservations for the dinners can be made via Tock.

Amici’s to close its last San Francisco location

The Marina District location of Amici’s East Coast Pizzeria will close in September when the lease at its Lombard Street location expires, the San Francisco Business Times reports. It’s the last sit-down location of Amici’s in San Francisco, as an Oracle Park-adjacent space closed back in 2019; currently, the Bay Area chain operates one location in Sacramento and 12 others throughout the Bay Area. Not all is lost for San Francisco locals, however: The Times reports that Amici’s will maintain a ghost kitchen in SoMa where customers can order delivery or pick-up if they need a hit of Amici’s pizza.

Hawaiian late-night pop-up launches at Casements

Modern Irish bar Casements welcomes a new late-night pop-up into the San Francisco scene starting Wednesday, July 3. Casements is collaborating with Lilly Rockholt of pop-up All Pau, who will serve Hawaiian dishes every Wednesday throughout July. Expect items such as Spam fries, kalua pork nachos, and crispy gau gees, or fried dumplings, available in pork and veggie versions.

Vietnamese bites take over Bar Iris

Nisei chef de partie Daniel Le is cooking up his take on Vietnamese dishes from his childhood on Monday, July 1, at Bar Iris. Le’s pop-up Fish Sauce Boogie features dishes such as bò né toast, a version of the classic breakfast dish on Saltwater Bakeshop country sourdough; chile crab curry noodles topped with fried soft-shell crab; Mama Phuong’s Pork Chop with “signature spicy roasted scallion sambal” made by Le’s mom, and more. The pop-up begins at 4 p.m. for walk-ins only and continues until 9 p.m. or when the menu is sold out.
