England have been replaced as the favourites to win Euro 2024, according to an Opta super computer.

Gareth Southgate's side were favourites going into the tournament, posessing a wealth of talent in their ranks including the likes of Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden and Cole Palmer.

That talent hasn't transformed into results thus far, however, with two wins and two draws to the Three Lions' names all coming in unconvincing fashion.

The team were met by boos and plastic missiles after the 0-0 draw with Slovenia to close the group stage, and needed a last-minute Jude Bellingham strike to avoid elimination at the hands of Slovakia.

Those performances, potentially alongside the showings of other candidates, mean England have been knocked off top spot as the most likely side to win the tournament next week.

England are still just behind with a 19.9 per cent chance, with Germany in third, again just behind, at 19.22 per cent.

Spain have netted nine goals in their four games so far and cruised past Georgia in the last-16 to set up a tie against the host nation.

One of the two teams therefore has to get eliminated at the quarter-final stage, meaning the percentages will change drastically, likely increasing te chances of the winning side.

Should Spain get knocked out and England win their last-eight tie against Switzerland, however, it is possible Southgate's men would again move to the top of the odds.

In fourth place out of the sides sit France, who are ranked at having 15.65 per cent chance of success on the back of their win over Belgium.

Portugal are fourth at 8.8 per cent, with The Netherlands sixth with 6.38 per cent.

Switzerland, England's opponents on Saturday, are given 5.01 per cent chance, Austria 3.32 per cent chance, Turkey 1.16 per cent chance and Romania, to round it off, 0.52 per cent chance.

That's likely due to the teams on each side of the draw, with England to face Switzerland and then Netherlands or Austria, while Spain may have to face Germany and France just to reach the final.

Southgate's side will go into Saturday's game with a 66.81 per cent chance of success, according to the super computer, with Spain narrow favourites to beat Germany at 54.82 per cent.

France, meanwhile, are given 57.01 per cent chance of beating Portugal to reach the last four, though are given just 25.43 per cent chance of reaching the final.

Portugal are given a staggering 15.73 per cent chance of beating both France and either Germany of Spain to reach the final of the competition they won in 2016.
