M&S to return to city centre with large £21m store
The new store at Cabot Circus Shopping Centre 'will create about 150 new jobs'
Marks & Spencer is returning to Bristol city centre with a £21m department store.
The three-level stop will replace House of Fraser in Cabot Circus, and will create 150 jobs, the retailer said.
M&S had been a fixture in Broadmead since 1952, but closed in January 2022.
“At Cabot Circus, we’re able to create a flagship store which delivers the best possible shopping experience for customers and showcases the very best of M&S," said the chain's CEO, Stuart Machin.
"Our store rotation programme is all about ensuring we have the right stores in the right place and with the right space to excite and inspire our customers, including in city centres," he added.
"This £21m investment will allow us to do just that while expanding our footprint across the South West."
The retailer previously announced plans to open four new full stores and nine food halls across the UK in this current financial year.
M&S currently has 45 stores across the South West, employing over 4,000 people, and working with more than 1,100 farmers in the region.
