'kuch logon ki peeda': pm narendra modi mocks opposition in reply to motion of thanks on president's speech in lok sabha
In his reply to the motion of thanks to the President's speech, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Lok Sabha today with a mixture of gratitude, commendation, and critique. "I thank the President for her address. The President has raised important issues in her speech," PM Modi began, acknowledging the key points highlighted by the President.
PM Modi also took the opportunity to congratulate the first-time MPs who spoke in the Lok Sabha, praising their poise and capability. "Yesterday, some of the first-time MPs addressed the Lok Sabha. They spoke like experienced MPs. I want to congratulate them," he said.
Switching to a more critical tone, PM Modi addressed the opposition's recent electoral defeat. "I understand the pain of some people who faced a crushing defeat despite continuously spreading falsehoods," he remarked. Highlighting the BJP's electoral success, he continued, "Their grand campaign, touted as the world's largest democratic exercise, resulted in the people of India giving us the opportunity to serve the nation for the third time. This is a very proud moment."
Modi emphasized the public's recognition of the BJP's decade-long governance. "The country has seen our 10-year track record. The people have witnessed our dedication to the welfare of the poor. In the past 10 years, 25 crore people have been lifted out of poverty due to our committed efforts," he stated.
During Modi's speech, Speaker Om Birla had to intervene when Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi engaged in sloganeering. The Speaker reprimanded Gandhi, saying, "This does not suit you. Do you want to break the dignity of Parliament? Your behavior is very inappropriate."
The session highlighted both the achievements touted by the ruling party and the ongoing tensions between the government and the opposition, reflecting the dynamic and often contentious nature of parliamentary proceedings.
