Tributes to Offaly husband and wife who died within two days of each other

Family, friends and neighbours of an Offaly husband and wife who died within two days of each other, have expressed their sadness at the couple’s passing.

Steve and Geraldine Coughlan, of 181 Arden View, Tullamore, Offaly, lay in Repose together at O’Reilly’s Funeral Home, Harbour Street, Tullamore, on Thursday evening, June 27, from 6pm until 9pm.

Removal was on Friday morning at 10am to Newlands Cross Crematorium, Dublin, arriving for 11.30am for a joint Cremation Service.

Steve and Geraldine are mourned by a wide circle of family and friends. Steve died peacefully at the Regional Hospital, Tullamore, on Sunday, June 23, just two days before Geraldine died, on Tuesday, June 25.

Steve was “sadly missed by his loving wife Geraldine and family, Amanda, Jenny, Mark and Nikki, sons in law Martin and JP, daughter in law Tara, his adored 13 grandchildren, brothers Billy, Jimmy, John and Kevin, sister Margaret, brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and many friends."

Geraldine was “pre deceased by her beloved husband Steve, and her brother Marcus. Sadly missed by her loving family, Amanda, Jenny, Mark and Nikki, sons in law Martin and JP, daughter in law Tara, her adored 13 grandchildren, her parents Martin and Rose, sister Imelda, brother Adrian, brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and many friends.”

Tributes, condolences and sympathies have poured in to the family from far and wide.

Denis and Nora Dunne and family, Tullamore, wrote: “Our deepest sympathies to the Coughlan and Fitzpatrick families on the very sad passing of Geraldine and Steve. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this very difficult time. May they both rest in peace.”

Mary and Pee Molyneaux said: “Our deepest sympathy to all the Coughlan and Fitzpatrick families on the very sad passing of Ger and Steve. They were great neighbours and Ger a good friend. Gonna really miss them. RIP.”

Ann and Mick O’Connell, of the Clontarf Road, wrote: “No words can express how sorry we are to hear of the very sad passing of both Geraldine and Steve. Our sincere condolences to Amanda, Jenny, Mark, Nikki, the Coughlan and Fitzpatrick families. May Geraldine and Steve rest together in eternal peace.”

Bernadette and Patricia Kerry, of Tullamore, said, “Deepest sympathy to Geraldine’s children, grandchildren her parents Marcus and Rosie her sister Imelda brother Adrian extended family and all the Coughlans at this very sad time. May she now rest in peace with Steve.”
