Met Office Tuesday Afternoon Weather Forecast 02/07/2024
Hello again. As we go through the rest of today, many of us will see a bit of sunshine at times, but there's some pretty wet weather to come as we go through the end of the day and into tomorrow. That's because of this system just to the northwest of the UK, and we can already see this is going to be affecting northwestern Scotland quite early this afternoon. Bring some more persistent rain here. Elsewhere there are a few showers around, but many places are going to see some bits of sunshine developing. Across central eastern parts of England and quite cloudy through a large chunk of the day, but some breaks in the cloud. Perhaps greater chance of some sunshine though further north and West where there should be some decent sunny spells in the sunshine, it's not going to feel too bad. Temperatures high teens, possibly low 20s for some of us, but those figures are a little bit below average for the time of year. So especially where it's going to be cloudy and wetter, it is going to feel pretty disappointing that cloud and rain across northern parts is going to become a bit more widespread. So turning increasingly cloudy across Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England with some fairly frequent rain which could be a little bit heavy at times through this evening. And all of that then spreading its way South and eastwards overnight. So although some southern parts may have a fairly decent end to the day, it's actually going to turn pretty cloudy and wet as we go overnight. Some of the rain could be a little bit on the heavy side and with all that unsettled weather around, temperatures aren't going to drop much. So most places holding up in double figures. So a mild but wet start today for most of us on Wednesday morning. Quite a lot of rain around then first thing. A lot of the heavier rain does quite quickly clear away towards the east and so something a bit dry for a time, but not necessarily that sunny for most of us. Quite a few places staying pretty cloudy. Maybe some brighter breaks developing across some southern parts of England perhaps, but on the whole it is going to be largely grey. There will also then be another band of rain coming in as we go through later on the day. It doesn't look especially heavy but just something a little bit more persistent perhaps for a time pushing its way in initially across Scotland and Northern Ireland and then feeding into western parts of England and Wales as well. As that then clears through, I am expecting some brighter or sunny to develop across parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland, but also a scattering of showers mixed in with these temperatures. On paper relatively similar to today, bit high for some, bit lower for others but nonetheless still generally a little bit below average for the time of year. There will be some higher humidity across some parts towards the South SE, but again feeling a bit disappointing for the time of year, especially with the cloud, the rain and for some of us some blustery winds to watch out for too. This front then does gradually continue its southeastwards as we go through tomorrow evening with then more places towards the north and West seeing some clearer skies to end the day and still a scattering of showers and some of them could be quite heavy at times. There is more unsettled weather to come as we go through the rest of this across northern parts. It's looking pretty wet on Thursday and there could be some blustery winds to watch out for. Then on Friday I think more places likely to see some wet weather, especially across southern parts when it could be quite wet and windy.
