Rutgers lands three-star QB Gavin Sidwar, first commit in Class of 2026
Greg Schiano crushed the Class of 2025 and has now moved onto the juniors.
On Monday, three-star quarterback Gavin Sidwar announced his commitment to Rutgers. He becomes the first commit for the Scarlet Knights in the Class of 2026. He chose Rutgers over the likes of Virginia Tech, Indiana, Maryland, Syracuse, Pitt, and others.
Sidwar impressed with his 6-foot-4 frame and big arm during Rutgers’ 7-on-7 shootout in June. He started as a sophomore for La Salle College in Wyndmoor, PA, the same high school that produced Scarlet Knight running back Samuel Brown. Sidwar threw 29 touchdowns passes in his second high school season.
The Scarlet Knights had a busy June recruiting the Class of 2025. Rutgers holds a total of 28 commits in the class, which is the most in the nation. The class is ranked 12th nationally, according to 247Sports. This includes six four-star players.
Schiano is hot on the trail of the Class of 2026 as well and adds a quarterback who is known for his big arm.
