FOUR new Orlando Pirates signings are expected before European tour
Orlando Pirates will announce four more new arrivals before they embark on a much-anticipated European tour to Germany and Spain.
Orlando Pirates are about to get busy in the market
According to SoccerLaduma, Pirates will unveil several new signings before heading to Europe for a pre-season tour. So far, they’ve announced one brand new player; winger Deivi Miguel Vieira aka Gilberto from Petro de Luanda. That publication expects Selaelo Rasebotja, Bayanda Thabethe, Thuso Moleleki and Ethan Visagie to follow suit shortly.
Playmaker Moleleki to join the Buccaneers
According to the reputable UnplayableZA on X, the skilful 24-year-old Thuso Moleleki will soon become an Orlando Pirates player. He’s impressed with NFD outfit Orbit College to the extent that Jose Riveiro and his staff are convinced he’ll add value to the Nedbank Cup winners. Last season was Orbit College’s first season in the second tier and they secured their stay there following an impressive debut campaign. Moleleki made one appearance in the Nedbank Cup last term. With the imminent arrival of Moleleki, Pirates’ options in the number 10 role have increased. Prodigiously gifted teenager Relebohile Mofokeng can easily operate there although he’s comfortable on the flanks too. Meanwhile, midfield all-rounder Fortune Makaringe has been released and will join Cape Town City. Thabang Monare was also released.

R11 million man Gilberto already in the bag
23-year-old Angolan winger Deivi Miguel Vieira, also known as Gilberto, is a right-winger who loves to cut inside and cause damage in central areas. He’s not an old-school style wide man who gets chalk on his boots, that’s for sure. Check out some of his trickery below which convinced the club to spend R11 million to sign him. Orlando Pirates European tour details
The Sea Robbers hop over to Spain and Germany for their latest pre-season tour. They’ll face Plymouth Argyle, Sevilla and Al Sadd on 12, 15 and 19 July respectively. The Buccaneers were in the football-mad Iberian nation at the start of the 2023-2024 campaign. They went unbeaten in friendlies against Las Palmas, Ecuadorian side Independiente del Valle and Israeli outfit Maccabi Tel Aviv.
With qualification for the CAF Champions League and two more trophies in the cabinet, now’s a good time to be a Bucs fan. The club have also revealed that new signings could be imminent as they seek to seal a few key deals before embarking on their European tour.
