DIY bride's 'cute' wedding favour idea is branded 'cheap trash': 'I'd leave it on the table'

A woman has made wedding favours out of bulk sea saltREAD MORE: Tacky bride slammed for 'worst ever' wedding favours

A DIY bride has left people fuming after revealing her 'cute' party favour hack - with many claiming it's the worst gift they have ever seen.

The young woman decided to give her guests tiny glass bottles of salt as a thanks for attending her big day.

She shared a video of herself putting the dainty keepsakes together, filling the tiny bottles with the bulk-buy salt before plugging the top with a cork stopper and adding tiny personalised stickers with the wedding date on top.

But the simple, cost-saving idea failed to appeal to most and soon went viral with thousands of people sharing their honest and brutal opinion.

'Once again proving wedding favours are trash,' one woman slammed.

'I would get something people could use like olive oil, or maybe bottles of wine. This is cheap,' said another.

'If you give me sea salt as a wedding favour then I'm giving you pepper as a wedding present,' another woman said.

'Respectfully I'd be leaving that on the table,' said another.

Another woman quipped it was more of a wedding 'flavour' than favour.

Many were confused about the practicality of the prsent having no idea what it would be used for, and another thought it was the 'cheapest thing they had ever seen'.

'Is it to give to the salty guests cause they envious? Or am I overthinking,' one woman asked.

Others would have preferred the little jars to be filled with quality salt, such as Maldon salt from England, rather than nondescript bulk sea salt.

But some loved the idea and were confused by the negative feedback.

'Cute! We got mini jars of honey at the last wedding we went to,' one woman said.

One woman gave similar favours at her wedding, using pink Himalayan salt, and claimed everybody loved them.

Given that the favours were designed for a Californian beach wedding, others were more understanding and said that sea salt definitely went with the whole beach vibe.

One user defended the cute idea with a more philosophical explanation.

'This is so sweet, as a spiritual person, sea salt is the best. For those who don't get it, it symbolises the preservation and endurance of the union and wards off any evil and blesses the marriage,' she said.

The original video has been seen by 1.7million people and received 1000 comments.
