Paloma Faith hits out at 'appalling' criticism of female Glastonbury headliners

Paloma Faith did not mince her words when addressing the “way people criticised the women” who headlined this year’s Glastonbury festival, calling it “appalling”.

The Only Love Can Hurt Like This singer, 42, performed on the Pyramid Stage on Sunday for the final day of iconic music event at Worthy Farm in Somerset.

Taking to social media the day after, she urged people to give her fellow females on the line-up “a goddamn break”.

Among those who have found themselves at the receiving end are Friday night’s headliner Dua Lipa, 28, who was hit by allegations of miming, which she denied.

Then, both Girls Just Wanna Have Fun singer Cyndi Lauper, 71, and country queen Shania Twain, 58, were hit with sound issues during their respective sets.

While on Sunday night, closer SZA, 34, failed to draw in a huge crowd, with viewers claiming she was the “wrong choice” and not well-known enough in the UK.

Taking to Instagram Stories, Faith fumed: “The way people criticise the women who performed @glastofest online is absolutely appalling.

“Personally, I watched women perform my fave shows of Glastonbury @littlesimz @janellemonae @sza and @dualipa were my faves for entertainment power and talent that I managed to catch this year and Janelle’s speech about marginalised communities got me in the heart.

“I think people need to understand that women are not on stage to be ridiculed and shamed we are there in all our female boss b***h power and we stand by one another.

“I want you all to know we read your comments and we absorb them and they aren’t good for our spirits. SO GIVE WOMEN A GODDAMN BREAK [sic].”
