Harshita Gaur had said no to 'Mirzapur': Didn't want to be anyone's sister
Actor Harshita Gaur, who plays the role of Dimpy in Mirzapur 3, shared how initially she had said no to the series. In an interview with IndiaToday.in, the actor revealed how she was apprehensive about venturing into OTT with the series.
However, the 'Sadda Haq' actor confessed after the release of 'Mirzapur Season 1', her popularity took a different route.
Talking about the same, she said, "When Mirzapur came, it was one of those first OTT shows. And, at that time I did not understand the concept of characters. I had said no to the show when the first call came to me. Then, I was not aware of the OTT concept and the only thing that we knew was TV and films. Because I was quite young and had done a show where I was the protagonist, I thought 'I don't want to be anyone's sister' in any show now."
Harshita continued, "You don't know, because it is OTT that made the characters the way it is. Today, we vouch for characters and people are attached to them. Now, OTT is not just about two people. The audience in today's time is intrigued by the characters which the platform has taught us."
Harshita then recalled that her initial decision was to decline the opportunity. However, the creators encouraged her to meet them first and then decide upon the same.
"When I had to make that decision, I obviously, in my immature state said that 'I would not do it' so the makers said 'ok, come meet us and then you see you want to do it or not.' When I went, it felt so good. They did not try to sell me the script but there was a gun sequence in season one which made me feel really good. Later, the show blew up and how. My poster was everywhere and the entire town was painted with Mirzapur posters. I saw my posters on hoardings and that feeling was something else only," she told us.
'Mirzapur' is among a few Indian web shows that enjoy a cult following. With 'Mirzapur 3', the makers have aimed to build on and take the narrative to new heights. Starring an ensemble star cast including Ali Fazal, Shweta Tripathi, Vijay Varma, Pankaj Tripathi and more, will premiere on Prime Video on July 5.
