South Africa’s youngest ‘Strongman’ aims for global glory in Ireland

Meet Reuben Jansen van Rensburg, South Africa’s 21-year-old ‘Strongman’ sensation. He’s qualified to compete in the prestigious Natural Strongman Worlds in Galway, Ireland.

The event will take place on 24 and 25 August 2024. This is a huge milestone for Reuben and a chance to showcase his strength on an international stage.

SOUTH AFRICAN STRONGMAN

Reuben isn’t just any strongman. He competes completely naturally, without using anabolic steroids or growth enhancers.

His commitment to natural strength sets him apart in the world of strongman competitions, according to False Bay Echo.

Now, he’s crowdfunding to make his dream of competing overseas a reality. He aims to raise R50,000 to cover the costs of his trip.

His mother, Sinta Ebersohn, has been instrumental in rallying support.

They’ve already raised R8,000 offline and now need to bridge the gap.

So far, they’ve received R12,368 in donations. With only four weeks left, time is of the essence.

STRONGMAN AND THE COMMUNITY

“This remarkable achievement places him on the global stage among the best natural athletes in the world,” says Sinta.

“He’s calling on the community for support through a crowdfunding campaign on Back a Buddy.

Over the past 18 months, Reuben has demonstrated extraordinary dedication and perseverance, securing top positions in major Strongman competitions.”

Reuben’s achievements in South Africa are impressive.

He’s earned several medals in national competitions. Here are some of his notable wins:

  • Arnold Classic Under 80kg: 3rd Place/Bronze Medal
  • Southern Cape Strongest Man: 1st Place/Gold Medal
  • South Africa Strongest Man: 2nd Place/Silver Medal
  • Western Cape Strongest Man: 1st Place/Gold Medal
  • African Strongman Union (ASU) Log & Deadlift Championships: 3rd Place/Bronze Medal

Now, the international stage is calling.

NATURAL STRONGMAN WORLDS

But getting to Ireland isn’t cheap. Reuben and his family need to cover the costs of flights, accommodation, food, equipment, and other necessary expenses.

They’ve been working tirelessly to raise the funds but need public support to reach their goal, according to Good Things Guy.

“Competing in the Natural Strongman Worlds is a dream come true,” says Reuben.

“I am committed to representing South Africa with pride and demonstrating the power of natural strength and perseverance.

With the community’s support, I believe I can achieve great things in Ireland.”

DEDICATION AND HARD WORK

Reuben’s journey is a testament to his dedication and hard work.

He’s shown that it’s possible to achieve strongman greatness naturally.

His story is an inspiration to many. It’s a call to support natural athletes and celebrate their achievements.

NATURAL STRENGTH

If you’d like to support Reuben, you can donate.

Every contribution brings him closer to his dream. You can also follow his progress on social media.

Reuben’s journey to Galway isn’t just about competing.

It’s about representing South Africa and showing the world what natural strength looks like.
