Joao Felix wanted back at Benfica after Barcelona loan
Joao Felix is facing an uncertain future after his season-long loan with Barcelona ended in June.
Barcelona waved goodbye to Felix on their social networks and then prompted deleted the message, a sure sign they are trying to keep hold of the Portugal international.
However, it’s still not clear if Barcelona will be able to make the numbers work, and in the meantime a new suitor appears to have emerged.
Portugese newspaper Correio de Manha reports that Felix’s former club Benfica are in negotiations with Atletico to buy 50% of his transfer rights.
A return to Benfica could well appeal to Felix, who is currently away at Euro 2024 with Portugal but struggling for game time with Roberto Martinez’s men.
Felix has said he wants to stay at Barcelona but the club are yet to make contact with Atletico about another deal, according to president Enrique Cerezo.
A return to Atletico also looks difficult for the 24-year-old, despite the fact he has a contact at the club until 2029, leaving him in a tricky position this summer.
