'In Modi ji's world...': Rahul Gandhi reacts after several parts of his speech in Lok Sabha expunged
After a number of remarks made by the leader of the Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi were expunged from the records of Parliament, he reacted saying he only spoke the truth.
"In Modi ji's world, truth can be expunged. But in reality, the truth can't be expunged. I said what I had to say, that is the truth. They can expunge as much as they want. Truth is truth," Gandhi said.
Gandhi on Monday launched a no-holds-barred attack on the BJP in the Lok Sabha, accusing the leaders of the ruling party of dividing people on communal lines.
Speaking for about an hour and 40 minutes, Gandhi also highlighted about the importance of fearlessness and courage.
Holding up pictures of Lord Shiva, Guru Nanak, and Jesus Christ, he referred to Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism, Christianity, Buddhism and Jainism to underline the importance of fearlessness. He also cited the attributes of Lord Shiva and teachings of Guru Nanak, Jesus Christ, Buddha, and Mahavir to state that all religions and great people of the country have said "daro mat, darao mat (do not be scared, do not scare others)".
Gandhi slammed the ruling BJP saying, "Aap Hindu ho hi nahi (You are not Hindus). It is clearly written in Hinduism that one should stand with the truth and not back down from the truth or be scared of it."
He also criticised the Agnipath scheme for short-term military recruitment and said that the government does not even give them the status of a "shaheed" (martyr) and that no compensation is extended to their families in they are killed in action.
Gandhi's remarks drew massive protests, following which, parts of the speech were expunged from the records of Parliament by the orders of the Speaker.
Among the portions expunged were Gandhi's comments on BJP-RSS, PM Modi, Hindus, among others.
