“Never Taking a Rapido…”: Google Engineer Injured in Rapido Bike Incident, Sparks Safety Debate
Reckless driving incidents happen very often and in recent news a software engineer at Google faced one such experience when she took a Rapido taxi bike. X user Amisha Aggrawal shared a picture of her bruised leg on the social media platform as she fell down from the bike with a caption that reads, “Never taking a Rapido bike again :).” And later in the post she described the whole event
In the thread she wrote, “I booked a Rapido bike on Friday night. The driver was driving at a high speed and not following rules. At Outer Ring Road, Kadubeesanahalli, he suddenly took a turn to enter the service lane without indicator.” and there was a car which was coming from behind and collided with the bike.
And on top of that the Rapido driver completed the trip and ran away without taking her to any clinic or hospital. Instead of this the car driver was the one who helped her and offered her first aid.

“The car coming behind could not have expected this, leading to a collision. The bike lost balance and we both fell on the busy Outer Ring Road. The rider completed the trip and ran away without taking me to a clinic/hospital.
Thankfully, my injuries are minor only and the car driver gave me first aid. He stayed till my friends arrived at the scene. The car driver was really apologetic, though it wasn't his fault. I can only thank God that I was wearing a good quality helmet (as opposed to the cheap helmets these riders usually give), and was hence saved from major injury,” she added in her post.
She later talked to the service team of Rapido who advised her to file an insurance claim through the application. She wrote, “I have talked to Rapido customer care and they have asked me to file an insurance claim, which I will. I don't have anything against Rapido, but the bike riders usually drive very recklessly, and I'd advise everyone to avoid booking two wheelers if they love their life.”
People’s reactions to the post:
One of the user’s said, “Always opt for a cab even if it is for short distances. One can never trust the bikers nor the auto drivers. I'm speaking from multiple experiences - personal and those i know of.
Honestly, i feel in Blr auto drivers are the worst you can find. (Not all, but most).”
“Considering the driving skills of majority people in India bike aggregators will fall in the worst category with risk percentage " Living on the edge," said another one.
“I decided that I will not take a rapido bike again months ago when i witnessed most riders driving too fast and most not carrying a proper helmet,” added a third one.
“Hope you get well soon, I guess there was some new rule/law of hit and run not sure if applicable in this case but there should be some way to ensure safety and protection
Should this concern @rapidobikeapp and it's investor's like @AnupamMittal I love this platform so for me..”
“There was a recent train and airport accident also, please don't take that also. Accident happens because of the negligence of someone, blaming the whole organisation is not a good practice. Wishing for your speedy recovery. Take care.”
