ITV Emmerdale Samson Dingle's downfall 'sealed' after clue ahead of soap exit

Emmerdale spoilers for next week have teased Samson Dingle's downfall.

Samson was stabbed in huge scenes last month with Matty Barton to blame for what has happened after the knife he was holding ended up in Samson's stomach. In the shocking scenes, Samson's new friend Josh confronted Matty after he poured their paid for beers down the drain. He was furious over Josh constantly flirting with Amy, despite knowing that Matty and Amy were recently married.

Things escalated when vile Josh started referencing Matty being transgender and in a furious confrontation, Matty warned them to leave - but Josh wasn't having it. He pushed Samson forward, and onto the knife that Matty was holding. In horrifying scenes, Samson was whisked away in an ambulance - whilst Matty found himself arrested and he's since been struggling in prison.

There is no CCTV footage to back up Matty's claims while Josh threatened Samson to stick to his side of the story in order to keep themselves out of trouble. Samson seemed very guilty as he pointed out to Josh that Matty is family. However, despite this, Samson has told the police that Matty stabbed him with Cain Dingle, who is Matty's stepfather, furious as he vowed to get the truth.

Emmerdale spoilers for next week have teased Samson Dingle's downfall

In upcoming scenes, Matty's mother, Moira Dingle, is seething to hear Josh and Samson’s intention to leave for their European trip sooner than before, vowing to stop them. It's not long until Moira bursts into the Dingles and voices her accusations to which Samson's father, Sam Dingle, defends his son's innocence. Later, things go from bad to worse when Sam is convinced to let him leave as he promises to be back before the trial. Meanwhile, Moira is on a mission to stop him going…

Later in the week, spoilers tease that Lydia Dingle starts to suspect Samson may be lying and when Josh threatens Samson, putting pressure on him to continue lying to the police, Lydia observes their interaction. Moira and Lydia meet and Moira implores her to help but will she?

Despite Samson's betrayal, with the character previously showing guilt over framing Matty, does this mean Samson will have a change of heart and support family member Matty over his new friend Josh? Or will Moira and Lydia manage to expose the truth, therefore rescuing Matty. The theory coincides with Samson set to depart the village in upcoming weeks, could he be banished by the Dingles for betraying family?

However, whatever happens, actor Sam Hall - who plays teenager Samson - has insisted he won't be killed off. He told Inside Soap: "Well, I don't want to give too much away, but Samson has some really big stuff coming up. Don't worry, as he's definitely not being killed off! There are some good stories coming up for him, and I was very excited when I read the scripts.

"I like playing mean Samson, but I think his good side always shines through. Like with the baby storyline, he was worrying about Amelia being okay for Esther because Samson obviously lost his mum – and he didn’t want his kid to grow up without a mum."

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.* Follow Mirror Celebs and TV on TikTok , Snapchat , Instagram , Twitter , Facebook , YouTube and Threads.
