If all goes well, director Pa Ranjith’s much awaited period entertainer Thangalaan, featuring actor Vikram in the lead, might release on August 15 this year.

Yes, you read that right. Producer Dhananjayan, who is closely associated with Studio Green, the production house making Thangalaan, has disclosed in a recent interview that producer Gnanavel Raja had given the go-ahead to finalise August 15 as the release date of Thangalaan.

Thangalaan To Hit Screens On August 15

Dhananjayan said that producer Gnanavel Raja, after holding discussions with distributors in Mumbai and in Telugu, had confirmed to him that they would go with August 15 as the release date of the film. Although, there has been no official announcement in this regard, Dhananjayan's statement has led all stakeholders to believe that Thangalaan will release on August 15.

This news comes even as music director G V Prakash announced on Monday that he had completed scoring the background score of the film and that a trailer of the film was coming out soon.

Thangalaan, A Historical Drama

The film is a historical drama based on true events that explores the struggles of mine workers at Karnataka's Kolar Gold Fields. It marks the first collaboration between actor Vikram and writer-director Ranjith.

The film is produced by KE Gnanavel Raja through his Studio Green banner, alongside Ranjith's Neelam Productions and Jyoti Deshpande's Jio Studios.

Tamil Praba has co-written the screenplay with Ranjith, with dialogues by Azhagiya Periyavan. The film has cinematography by A Kishor Kumar, music by GV Prakash, editing by Selva RK, action by Stunner Sam, and art direction by SS Murthi.

Thangalaan also stars Malavika Mohanan, Parvathy Thiruvothu, and Pasupathy, among others. The film, apart from Indian actors, will also feature Hollywood actor Daniel Caltagirone playing a pivotal role in the film.
