Raiders' second year tight-end named as a trade candidate by Bleacher Report
The Raiders likely got away with the steal of the 2024 draft in Brock Bowers, which was good news for almost everyone on the team except Michael Mayer. The nature of the move has not been lost on Bleacher Report as Mayer is now seen as a trade candidate.

Mayer did not have the most productive rookie year posting 27 receptions, 304 yards, 2 touchdowns according to ESPN. While the Raiders could look to expand on the talents of both Mayer and Bowers in 2024 the fire power of the offense does not suggest a lot of 12 personnel.
The one thing that Mayer does have going for him is the fact that the Raiders should be an offense based on running the ball which could get him on the field. So if the Raiders chose not to lean on their firepower of Davante Adams, Jakobi Meyers, and Tre Tucker, Mayer has a real chance at being on the field and running routes out of play action.
It is unlikely that the Raiders chose to deal Mayer, but if they decide that is the route they want to go, a lot of his value will be placed on his draft stock and potential out of college, unless something drastically changes in 2024. Mayer is now in the midst of playing for his job and competing with someone who is much more versatile than him, how he responds decides everything.
