BREAKING: Rulani Mokwena wants to leave Sundowns!
Mamelodi Sundowns supporters did not see this one coming. Rulani Mokwena is reportedly forcing an exit out of the club, according to SABC Sport.
RULANI MOKWENA LEAVING MAMELODI SUNDOWNS?
According to the report, the 37-year-old Kabo Yellow coach is not having a good relationship with the club’s Sporting Director Flemming Berg, who previously worked at Chelsea.
Additionally, the Sundowns coach is not pleased with the player movements. The report also says Mokwena is keen to take a work break.
“SABC Sport has it on good authority that Mamelodi Sundowns and coach Rulani Mokwena are in talks to cut ties just 12 months after agreeing a four-year contract,” the report said.
“The final and official decision is yet to be made following tense discussions, but the probability Mokwena will step down is high.
“It’s understood at the centre of this shocking development at Chloorkop is the broken working relationship between the coach and sporting director Flemming Berg,” the report said.
These news follow a day after Sundowns announced the depature of four senior players:
- Gaston Sirino
- Bongani Zungu
- Thabiso Kutumela
- Brian Onyango.

EUROPEAN TRIP
Mamelodi Sundowns are continuing the trend they started two years ago. The club is going to Europe for preseason.
As reported across local media last week, Kabo Yellow were said to be planning a trip to Europe ahead of the new season. The African Football League champions follow this trip after visiting the Netherlands last season. The new plans were confirmed by the chairman Thlopie Motsepe on Friday.
“As we prepare for the upcoming season, plans are underway for a return to Europe for our pre-season,” Motsepe revealed to the club’s media. “This time, after considering different countries and continents, the team has opted for Austria where they will face some top European sides.
“We trust that preparations will be in-depth and vigorous as they were in the Netherlands last year. The camp in Austria will also assist with the preparations for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup,” the Sundowns boss added.
