Koenigsegg breaks its own speed records with latest hypercar
Swedish supercar maker Koenigsegg has broken a handful of acceleration records, most recently held by… itself.
On a cool morning at a runway in Orebro, Sweden, test driver Markus Lundh piloted the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut hypercar to new records for 0-400km/h, 0-400-0km/h, 0-250mph, and 0-250-0mph sprints.
Powered by a bespoke 5.0-litre twin-turbo V8, the 1193kW Jesko Absolut completed the 0-400km/h run in just 18.82 seconds – almost a full two seconds faster than the 20.68 second record claimed by its hybrid Regera sibling last year.
It has some stopping power, too, setting a new record of 27.83 seconds for the 0-400-0km/h test, again besting the Regera which completed the go-to-woah in 28.81 seconds last year.

It continued to set records for 0-250mph (402.3km/h) acceleration – doing so in 19.20 seconds – and then back down to a standstill, which took 28.27 seconds all told.
The car was stock standard apart from the addition of a roll cage and a driver’s seat from the One:1. It ran on Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tyres and E85 fuel, unlocking its full power potential.
First unveiled at the 2019 Geneva motor show, the Koenigsegg Jesko pairs a 5.0-litre twin turbo V8 with a nine-speed automated multi-clutch transmission, dubbed the Light Speed Transmission.

The Jesko doesn’t have an official top speed, but Koenigsegg has claimed it’s capable of reaching up to 532km/h.
Founder and CEO Christian von Koenigsegg has publicly stated that he wishes to prove that theory.
The interior features a large amount of carbon-fibre and leather, as well as a large infotainment touchscreen in the centre of the dash. Ahead of the driver, the small digital instrumentation screen rotates its graphics in accordance with steering input.
Just 125 units of the Jesko will be built.
Jesko owners were recently told to stop driving their cars after an example caught fire in Greece, with Koenigsegg attributing the blaze to a hydraulic hose leak.
