Jodie Comer recalls snub by major movie franchise before landing Killing Eve role

Austin Butler has opened up about his unsuccessful audition for 'The Hunger Games', revealing he didn't even get a callback for the role of Peeta Mellark, which ultimately went to Josh Hutcherson.

The 'Elvis' star shared with BuzzFeed: "I auditioned for 'The Hunger Games' and I didn't get it at all. I don't even think I got a call back, what's the character, Peeta? Josh Hutcherson got that, he's great."

Meanwhile, Butler's colleague from 'The Bikeriders', Jodie Comer, also disclosed her own brush with missed opportunity, having auditioned for Mamma Mia! around the same time she was in the running for Killing Eve a role that would thrust her into stardom.

Comer reminisced: "I auditioned for 'Mamma Mia! ' That was a time, that was also when I was auditioning for 'Killing Eve' as well." Despite past setbacks, both actors have secured starring roles in the upcoming crime drama 'The Bikeriders', portraying the married couple Benny and Kathy Cross.

Directed and penned by Jeff Nichols, the film delves into the tumultuous world of a Midwestern motorcycle club called the Vandals, led by Tom Hardy's Johnny. As tensions rise within the club, Benny faces a tough choice between his allegiance to the club and his wife, Kathy.

Comer recently confessed to struggling with perfecting a Chicago accent for her role in the movie, which is inspired by Danny Lyon's photographic book bearing the same title. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, she confessed: "I would say that Kathy's accent is probably the hardest one that I've done. I was given 30 minutes with the real Kathy being interviewed by Danny Lyon, and I was so struck by how singular and unique her dialect and cadence was."

She continued: "So I started working with a dialect coach, Victoria (Hanlin), and she told me, 'All the vowel sounds are a contradiction. This is something that is entirely her own.'". She added: "And I said, 'I want to get as close to the audio as I possibly can.' ".
