- The PC version of Final Fantasy 16 opens the door for mods to potentially alter boss fights, making the game even more unique.
It has yet to be confirmed when Final Fantasy 16 will make its way to PC, but its arrival on the platform has been confirmed nonetheless. In the words of producer Naoki Yoshida, Final Fantasy 16's PC port will be released "soon," according to an announcement that was made in March 2024. This likely means the launch of Final Fantasy 16 on PC is just around the corner, so fans and newcomers should prepare themselves for another journey through Valisthea.
Almost anytime a game moves from console to PC, its standout feature is its improved visuals. Well-built PCs with decent hardware can do much more than consoles can, so these ports are often highly anticipated. Final Fantasy 16's PC port is no different, and will likely improve and add to the initial experience it offered. However, this particular PC port will be uniquely special for one undeniable reason.

Final Fantasy 16's Boss Fights Will Likely Be the Star of Its PC Port
Final Fantasy 16's Boss Fights on PC Will Be Even More Spectacular
It's almost universal knowledge at this point that Final Fantasy 16 not only has some of the best boss fights in the Final Fantasy franchise, but also in all of gaming. Each of its major boss fights is a cinematic spectacle of epic proportions, consisting of massive clashes between Eikons like Ifrit, Bahamut, and now Leviathan, after the release of Final Fantasy 16's Rising Tide DLC. Even with each major battle sequence being broken up into phases by quick time events, which are notoriously despised, they still manage to put on a spectacular show, all while allowing players direct control over the outcome.
In many ways, Final Fantasy 16's boss fights are interactive movies, almost akin to something straight out of a Michael Bay film. As such, once Final Fantasy 16 finally moves to PC, its boss fights should understandably be even more of a wondrous sight to behold, as the power provided by modern graphics cards can ensure they look better than they ever did on the PS5. However, that's not all Final Fantasy 16 PC players will have to look forward to, as the move to PC opens up an entirely different can of worms that other platforms are generally incapable of.
Final Fantasy 16's Boss Fights on PC Could Be Changed Using Mods
Mods have become an increasingly popular gaming feature over the years, to the point that developers are getting in on the action. For example, CD Projekt Red recently released The Witcher 3 REDkit, which is a mod that gives players access to almost every tool the developers had when they built the game. Furthermore, games like The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim continue to remain popular due to the countless number of mods the community has developed for it. This is what will ultimately make Final Fantasy 16's PC release so special — especially when it comes to its boss fights.
As the mod community has proven, mods can be built to do almost anything in a game, so long as they don't violate a developer's terms and conditions. As such, Final Fantasy 16's boss fights could likely be altered by mods to produce some entertaining (and perhaps bizarre) battle combinations. For instance, seeing Dragonball Z characters face off in a battle above the Crystalline Dominion would be both epic and arguably hilarious, thereby increasing Final Fantasy 16's entertainment value even more. If this ends up being possible, it'll make Final Fantasy 16 stand out even more among its peers.
It will be interesting to see what Final Fantasy 16 looks like on PC, especially its boss fights. Whether the mod community can modify those fights is another thing, but it would certainly make Final Fantasy 16 on PC an incredibly unique experience.
