Vikki Wall returns to boost Meath after missing out on Olympic dream with Ireland rugby sevens
The LGFA’s 2021 footballer of the year Vikki Wall has returned to the Meath squad ahead of Saturday’s All-Ireland quarter-final against Kerry.
Wall has been absent from the squad all year as she pursued her ambition of making the Irish Olympic rugby sevens team.
But she missed out when the squad for Paris was announced last month, freeing her up again to rejoin Meath.
She trained with Meath over the weekend and is in line to feature against Kerry in Tralee on Saturday evening.
The corresponding quarter-final 12 months ago in Tralee between these teams was Wall’s last competitive ladies game, which they lost to relinquish their All-Ireland title.
She accepted an invitation to put herself in the frame for Paris last September and made her debut against Japan in the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series in January.
Wall had previously played for AFLW side North Melbourne in 2022, having completed back to-back All-Ireland titles for Meath.
