The Titans have one of the worst QB rooms in the NFL according to a new ranking that just came out.
There is a lot of hype and optimism surrounding Will Levis and his ability to develop into a franchise quarterback at some point for Tennessee. But Levis might not be ready to lead a team just yet, and there is not much behind him on the bench to be confident in.
A new Bleacher Report article by Ryan Fowler ranked the 12 worst QB situations in the NFL and Tennessee found itself at eighth in that list, just ahead of the Colts at seventh. This means that Fowler thinks there are only seven QB situations that are worse than the one the Titans will have to deal with this season.
Here is some of what Fowler had to say about why he chose to rank the Titans where he did.
"The Titans offense is expected to take a step this fall. And with new HC Brian Callahan in the building, the onus on Will Levis to elevate the group remains of the utmost importance. This ranking isn't to say we expect Levis to falter, he should be league average in 2024, but numbers are numbers and Levis ranked 24th in QBR among signal callers with at least nine appearances last fall. A ranking that saw him sit behind Cincinnati's Jake Browning and the Giants' tandem of Tommy DeVito and Tyrod Taylor."
He brought up some good points about Levis' ability to take the next step and be a reliable starter. Levis' QBR ranking of 24th does not inspire a lot of confidence in him. The Titans will need him to be much better than Jake Browning or Tyrod Taylor if they want to contend in the AFC South this season.
"Ridley, an explosive perimeter threat, will now pair with DeAndre Hopkins, Treylon Burks and Boyd to make life easier on Levis, but it'll be on the second-year QB to utilize his weapons correctly."
The improved WR room should help Levis, as should Callahan's new system which is more QB-friendly.
Mason Rudolph and Malik Willis are backup options that do not strike fear into anyone's heart at the moment.
Given what has been laid out in his story, Fowler's ranking of Tennessee's QB situation seems to be accurate at this point in the offseason.
It is going to be up to Levis to change that ranking himself.
