Kansas State gets commitment from five-star tight end

Kansas State has landed a commitment from one of the nation’s elite recruits from the Class of 2025 after five-star tight end Linkon Cure announced he would stay in his home state and play for the Wildcats on July 1.

Cure, 6-foot-6 and 220 pounds, had 42 receptions for 946 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns as a junior in 2023 at Goodland (Kansas) High School. 247Sports has him rated as a five-star recruit and the No. 2 overall tight end in the nation for the Class of 2025.

Cure chose Kansas State over Kansas, Texas A&M and Oregon.

Kansas State saw its first tight end taken in the NFL Draft in 23 years when the Washington Commanders selected Ben Sinnott in the second round (No 53 overall) in 2024.

From 247Sports: “On the short list when talking about top tight ends in the county. (Cure) is a hybrid jumbo receiver at the high school level but projects to grow into a tight end in college. Elite route runner, smooth out of his breaks, understands how to change speeds and how to separate. Gets easy separation right off the snap and does a nice job adjusting to the football. Wins 50-50 balls, runs really well after the catch and has high level body control. A natural pass catcher who never fights the ball and has the ability to snatch it and quickly get up the field. Has the track background we love as well and when you combine his frame, skill set and all around athletic profile, it’s easy to see why he’s such a highly coveted prospect. Will need to gain size and strength to improve as a blocker but should be an early impact player at the next level.”

Cure is also a three-time Class 3A hurdles champion — twice in the 300-meter hurdles and once in the 110-meter hurdles.
