The New York Rangers have acquired Reilly Smith from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for a conditional fifth-round pick in 2025 and a second-rounder in 2027.
As part of the deal, Pittsburgh will retain 25 percent of Smith’s salary.
This past season, the 33-year-old forward recorded 13 goals, 27 assists and 40 points in 76 games.
Smith spent six seasons with the Vegas Golden Knights before being traded to the Penguins last offseason.
By landing Smith, the Rangers add much needed offensive depth and a player that could potentially fill a hole on a line with Chris Kreider and Mika Zibanejad.
Aside from the Smith trade, the only move New York has made through the day has been signing Sam Carrick to a three-year $3 million contract.
