Joe Biden Gets Bad News From America's Most Accurate Pollster

President Joe Biden is trailing behind Donald Trump in the 2024 race, including by nearly 15 points among younger voters, according to a leading pollster.
A survey from AtlasIntel, which was named the most accurate polling group of the 2020 presidential election by 538, found that Trump has a five-point lead over Biden (45.5 percent to 40.3) with just over four months to go until November's rematch between the pair.
When broken down further, the poll of 1,634 likely voters shows that Trump is the clear favorite among voters aged 18-29 (41.6 percent to 27). Historically, younger voters have tended to favor Democratic presidential candidates in elections.
In comparison, Biden leads Trump in the other potential key age demographics of those between 45 and 64 (47.7 percent to 45.1) and those 65 and above (52.1 percent to 41.6).
Newsweek reached out to Trump's and Biden's teams for comment via email.
The poll was conducted between June 26 and 28, meaning some of those who took part in the survey may have watched or been aware of Biden's performance during Thursday night's first live televised presidential debate of the 2024 campaign.
Biden, 81, entered the debate against Trump having long faced concerns that he is too old to run for a second term. The president did little to dismiss such worries during the debate after he gave a series of incoherent and confusing responses and appeared to trail off and not finish his sentences at times.
Biden's performance resulted in growing calls for him to end his reelection bid and allow the Democratic Party to install a new candidate to take on Trump. The AtlasIntel poll did not directly address the CNN debate but did ask whether Biden should drop out of the 2024 race.
A total of 48.2 percent say they think Biden should drop out. Slightly less (44.2 percent) said they don't think Biden should pull out of the race. More than half (54.6 percent) of respondents aged between 18-29 believe the president should not seek another term in office.
Nearly three-quarters (72.4 percent) of voters said they believe there is a "low" or zero chance that Biden will end his reelection bid this far into the campaign.
The president and his team have long dismissed suggestions he will withdraw from the race before November amid concerns about his age and poor approval ratings. Lauren Hitt, Biden's campaign spokesperson, told the Associated Press after the CNN debate: "Of course, he's not dropping out."
Trump has not faced similar concerns about his age as he seeks a second term in office despite being 78.
The AtlasIntel poll also found that more people (48.9 percent) believe Trump should be disqualified from running for office because of his actions around the January 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol than those who think he should not (47.2 percent).
Trump has pleaded not guilty to four federal charges in relation to the events that led to the Capitol riot.
The Supreme Court is expected to rule on Monday whether the charges can be dismissed over claims Trump can cite presidential immunity.
The AtlasIntel poll has a margin of error of plus or minus two percentage points.
