iPhone 16, 16 Pro to come with Samsung's M14 OLED display panels: Report
Apple’s upcoming iPhone 16 lineup could be in for a visual upgrade, with reports claiming the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models might utilise Samsung’s latest M14 OLED display technology. This news comes courtesy of ETNews, a South Korean publication.
The M14 panels are said to offer two key benefits: improved brightness and increased longevity. While specific details on the level of brightness improvement are unavailable, a previous rumour in May 2024 suggested the iPhone 16 Pro could see a jump to 1,200 nits, up from the 1,000 nits of the iPhone 15 Pro.
This would mark Apple’s first foray into using Samsung’s newest display generation. Interestingly, the report also suggests Google’s Pixel 9 series might be sporting the same M14 technology.
The iPhone 16 launch is expected to debut around September, most likely around first or second week of the month. In addition to the display upgrade, whispers suggest the iPhone 16 Pro models might boast slightly larger screens compared to their predecessors. The iPhone 16 Pro is rumoured to grow from 6.1 inches to 6.3 inches, while the Pro Max might expand from 6.69 inches to 6.9 inches.
