Sara Ali Khan once openly talked about her authentic self. She first appeared on camera with her father Saif Ali Khan on an episode of Koffee with Karan, where she made a positive impact on viewers even before her acting debut.
As time passed, Sara's social media presence contrasted sharply with the roles she chose in films, highlighting a clear conflict between her public image and her acting choices.
In a chat with Film Companion, Sara said that since people saw her "unadulterated" version very early in her career, they were confused by her changing image on social media and her interviews. Sara admitted that she let herself down.
She stated, “People saw through me when I was trying to do something that didn’t come necessarily from the heart. Because then, you are leaving yourself open to comparison. Because I have given the audience, the media, just people in general, a very unadulterated, a very honest version of myself, very early in my career."
She further added, “I started feeling very empty. I started feeling very let down by myself.”
Sara mentioned that she used to trust her instincts for making decisions, but gradually, she found herself relying more on careful thinking and analysis, becoming more "cerebral."
She added, “And I realised that that was not working for me for starters. So when you ask me, how do you filter the noise? I don’t know, but I know that when you are inauthentic, your body signals it to you.”
However, Sara expressed that her opinions shifted from being guided by instinct to being influenced by rational thinking. She mentioned feeling uncomfortable with this change, emphasizing the importance of balancing intellect with intuition. Sara admitted she had relied too heavily on logical reasoning, which began to overshadow her natural instincts—an imbalance she found problematic.
On the work front, Sara is currently filming "Metro In Dino" and "Sky Force," while Ibrahim Ali Khan is getting ready for his Bollywood debut in "Naadaniyaan," alongside newcomer Khushi Kapoor from The Archies.
