Chicago Blackhawks Bring Back Teuvo Teravainen for 3 Years

The Chicago Blackhawks are adding more talent up front as former player Teuvo Teravainen is signing for three years at $5.4 million AAV.

The Blackhawks originally drafted Teravainen 18th overall in the 2012 NHL draft and was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes after his first full season and just 115 games into his career. Despite leaving so early, he still won a Stanley Cup at 20 years old with the Blackhawks before spending the majority of his career in Carolina.

Teravainen finished his final season with the Hurricanes with 25 goals and 53 goals in 76 games. He isn't the most physical player, but he plays a clean game and a strong two-way game. While the Blackhawks didn't qualify strong defensive forward Joey Anderson, Teravainen is a big upgrade in that spot.

Chicago signs the 29-year-old to a term that really fits well with the direction of the team. This signing once again brings another solid top-6 player in to play with Connor Bedard and helps the Blackhawks take a step forward.
