Sam Carrick Moving On From Oilers
EDMONTON -- The first domino has fallen.
Free Agency Frenzy will begin in just over three hours. The first piece of Edmonton Oilers related news is hitting the news circuit.
The Oilers have many unsigned unrestricted free agents including; Adam Henrique, Connor Brown, Mattias Janmark, Sam Carrick, Vincent Desharnais, Corey Perry, Warren Foegele, Adam Erne, Sam Gagner and Troy Stecher.
Now one name can get crossed off of that list.
Both David Pagnotta and Andy Strickland are reporting that Carrick has signed a new deal. The reported contract is a three-year $1-million average annual value (AAV) deal.
It's not a surprise to see Carrick move on to a different organization. Carrick only dressed for 10 games during the playoffs. He averaged 9:14 of playing time per game along with a fantastic 53.3% faceoff percentage.

He is a solid depth piece. His speed might be the biggest factor in him not coming back to the Oilers.
This is just one piece in a very complicated puzzle for the Oilers.
