Kate Middleton photo shared by Kensington Palace as part of new royal tradition

Kensington Palace has shared an image of Kate Middleton as they highlighted that the princess made "good progress" with her cancer treatment in June.

The beautiful image, which sees Kate standing in front of a tree situated by a lake, was shared as part of a new royal tradition. As part of its latest custom, the palace recaps what the royals have been up to for the entire month as they reflect on what has been an increasingly busy time for them.

The series, which was captioned 'Welcome to the June Rewind', also touched on important D-Day celebrations, Pride month and Father's Day. During the re-cap, which can be found on the Prince and Princess of Wales's official Instagram account, a cancer update from the mum of three was included.

In the post, Kate said she has been "taking each day as it comes" and explained that she remains positive. "I have been blown away by all the kind messages of support and encouragement over the last couple of months," she wrote. "It really has made the world of difference to William and me and has helped us both through some of the harder times. I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days."

She added: "On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well. My treatment is ongoing and will be for a few more months. On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to do a little work from home."

The June recap also highlighted special moments from the Trooping the Colour celebrations on June 15. The event also marked an important time for the princess as she made a return to public life in the midst of her cancer treatment. The mum and her three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, were cheered by crowds in The Mall as they left Buckingham Palace in a carriage procession for the Trooping the Colour ceremony.

Elsewhere, the Instagram recap marked a meeting between Prince William and the England Euro squad as he handed them their football kit. He attended St George's Park National Football Centre and said to them: "I just want you guys to know how much it means for everyone back here that you got out here, give it your all, play for your shirt, play for each other, play for your country."

Shortly after the June recap, the Cambridges' cheered on the football team following their tense match against Slovakia on Sunday. The Instagram story read: "Emotional rollercoaster! Let's go England! Quarter finals here we come."
