Dining deals, shopping discounts and free travel – what Hong Kong is offering to mark July 1

  • Take advantage of the dozens of offerings from businesses to mark city's 27th anniversary of its return to Chinese rule

Hong Kong is rolling out freebies and discounts on transport and dining, along with other incentives, to mark its 27th anniversary of the return to Chinese rule on July 1.

Community groups are also helping the government's efforts to promote the day by holding a variety of celebratory events, including cultural shows, singing performances, neighbourhood carnivals and a dessert bazaar.

    The Fullerton Ocean Park Hotel is offering 29 per cent off at all restaurants and lounges from June 28 to July 7

    Cha chaan teng chain Tai Hing is offering 29 per cent off its entire menu at all branches, except at the airport on July 1

    Signature baked rice with pork chop in tomato sauce is 29 per cent off at all of Maxim's MX, Food2 and can.teen chains, apart from the airport.

    From June 29 to July 1, Tai Cheong Bakery will sell egg tarts for HK$7.1 (91 US cents) each

    KFC is selling Portuguese egg tarts for HK$7.1 each on July 1, after 11am

    Tokyo Joe is offering a 29 per cent discount on a la carte menu during lunch and dinner, while Kyoto Joe is offering 29 per cent off brunch and an eight-course dinner tasting menu on July 1

    Jashan Celebrating Indian Cuisine is offering 29 per cent off on its a la carte food menu for dine-in only on July 1

    Residents can enjoy 29 per cent off the entire drinks menu at The China Bar from 10pm onwards on July 1

    McDonald's is selling a Coconut Latte for HK$9.9 when using a coupon from its app, from July 1 to 7, 3pm to 6pm

    More than 160 businesses will take part in the Hong Kong Shopping Festival, which takes place between July 1 and August 31

    Supermarket chain Wellcome is offering HK$18 off purchases above HK$350 and HK$58 off purchases above HK$680

    JHC is offering HK$10 off purchases above HK$100

    Convenience store Circle K is offering HK$5 off beverages above HK$20

    Shoewear brand Skechers is offering HK$100 off every purchase of at least HK$500

    Mannings is offering HK$10 off for health product purchases above HK$200

Entertainment

    Free admission to selected exhibitions at M+, the Hong Kong Palace Museum, Science Museum, Space Museum and Museum of Art

    Free guided tours at Viva Blue House in Wan Chai and YHA Mei Ho House youth hostel

    Free entrance to public swimming pools and free use of sporting facilities under the Leisure and Cultural Services Department

    Free entrance to Hong Kong Wetland Park

    Sky100 is offering 27 per cent off tickets to the observation deck for residents between June 29 and July 1

    Ocean Park is selling admission tickets for HK$270 for adults and HK$189 for children between June 29 and July 1

    Children aged three to 11 can ride the MTR for free on all lines, except the cross-border high-speed rail, first class on East Rail and feeder buses on July 1

    Free rides on the light rail and MTR buses in the northwest New Territories for all passengers on July 1

    Free rides on trams on July 1

    Free crossing of Victoria Harbour on the Star Ferry's Tsim Sha Tsui-Wan Chai route, sponsored by Sinopec Hong Kong

    Fortune Ferry is giving away 2,000 ferry vouchers - 1,000 for Central to Hung Hom and 1,000 for North Point to Kwun Tong to Kai Tak
