Julianne Moore (May December), Meghann Fahy (The White Lotus) and Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon) have been set to topline Netflix‘s Sirens, a female-driven, dark comedy limited series created by Emmy-nominated writer and showrunner Molly Smith Metzler (Maid) and executive produced by LuckyChap.

An adaptation of Metzler’s play Elemeno Pea, which she wrote at The Juilliard School, the show centers on Devon, who thinks her sister Simone has a really creepy relationship with her new boss, the enigmatic socialite Michaela Kell. Michaela’s cult-ish life of luxury is like a drug to Simone, and Devon has decided it’s time for an intervention. When Devon tracks her sister down to say WTF, she has no idea what a formidable opponent Michaela will be. Told over the course of one explosive weekend at The Kells’ lavish beach estate, the show is billed as an incisive, sexy, and darkly funny exploration of women, power, and class.

Fahy plays Devon DeWitt, who is on a downward spiral back in her hometown. She is funny, resilient, and fiercely protective — especially of her younger sister Simone, played by Alcock. Sharp and charming, Simone has hit the jackpot working as a personal assistant to a billionaire.

Moore plays Michaela Kell, a philanthropist and animal activist who runs island high society and is the wife to billionaire Peter Kell. Her relationship with her assistant, Simone, seems too close for comfort.

In addition to showrunning and writing, Metzler will exec produce for Quiet Coyote, alongside Dani Gorin, Tom Ackerley, and Margot Robbie for LuckyChap. Emmy nominee Nicole Kassell (Watchmen) will direct the first two episodes, also serving as EP.

Sirens marks the first series out of Metzler’s creative partnership with Netflix, announced in 2022, and comes on the heels of the Margaret Qualley-led limited series Maid, her first, highly acclaimed project with the streamer, which landed her Emmy, Humanitas Prize and USC Scripter Award nominations.

An Oscar winner recently seen in Todd Haynes’ acclaimed Netflix pic May December and Starz’s Mary & George, Moore will next be seen in Pedro Almodóvar’s first English-language feature, The Room Next Door; Apple’s thriller Echo Valley with Sydney Sweeney and Domhnall Gleeson; and the action thriller Control opposite James McAvoy.

Known for her Emmy-nominated turn as Daphne in The White Lotus Season 2, and for her starring role as Sutton Brady on Freeform’s The Bold Type, Fahy is part of the cast of Vertical’s forthcoming genre-bender Your Monster, which premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. Other upcoming projects include Netflix’s starry murder mystery limited series The Perfect Couple, on which we were first to report; Christopher Landon’s thriller Drop for Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes; and Jonn Gunn’s The Unbreakable Boy.

An Australian actress who broke out with her role as a young Rhaenyra Targaryen on HBO’s House of the Dragon, Alcock was recently set for an even more coveted role, as she’s been tapped by DC to lead Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.

Previously, Metzler also served as a writer and co-EP on Showtime’s Shameless. Additional writing credits include Hulu’s Casual and Netflix’s Orange Is the New Black.

Moore is represented by WME, Entertainment 360, and Edelstein, Laird & Sobel; Fahy by WME, Anonymous Content, and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern; Alcock by CAA, Curtis Brown Group, Entertainment 360, and Goodman, Genow, Schenkman; and Metzler by CAA, Grandview, and McKuin Frankel Whitehead.
