Tory candidate’s office daubed with anti-Semitic graffiti

The campaign office of a Conservative election candidate has been defaced with anti-Semitic graffiti.

Robert Largan, who is seeking re-election in High Peak, Derbyshire, posted a picture on X, formerly Twitter, of the message “Zionist child killer” written on the windows in red paint.

Alongside the picture, Mr Largan wrote: “Good morning from Whaley Bridge.” He later thanked two local residents “for volunteering to help clean up the office”.

It comes after a Metropolitan Police investigation was launched following an attack on the office of Labour politician Stella Creasy last month. Windows were smashed, and graffiti read: “F--- your weasel words this is genocide. Labour child bombing Liars. 2001, 2003, 2024.”

Ms Creasy, who represents Walthamstow, in north-east London, wrote on social media: “Message to whoever attacked my office last night. You don’t intimidate me and you don’t belong in the political process. Same as those circulating malicious and false leaflets.

“Police already on this to find you – will press for the strongest penalties for such an anti-democratic attack, and I know Walthamstow won’t be cowed or influenced by your violence either.”

Last month, Mr Largan was criticised after he posted an election advert that appeared to make him look as though he was standing for Labour.

He posted a picture of himself in front of a red background with the words “Labour for Largan”. He also posted a similar blue advert saying “Reform for Robert” and appearing to use Reform UK’s colours.

The Tory oak tree silhouette logo is faint in the background and, in small font in the bottom left corner, it says the ad is “on behalf of Robert Largan, of High Peak Conservatives”.

The Tory candidate claimed in posts on X that “so many local Labour voters have told me they’re going to vote for me, because they want to keep me as their local MP”.

He added: “There have been so many that I’m launching a new Labour for Largan club”, with a link to a webpage inviting Labour voters to explain why they are “backing Robert Largan”. The link takes visitors through to his own website, showing he is a Tory candidate for High Peak.

Mr Largan is a government whip and was elected with a majority of 590 in 2019.
