Kotex quickly issued a strong-worded statement denouncing the allegations, adding that it does not engage in any political endorsements.

Karen Nyamu's apology

In the apology post, the young politician reiterated that her foundation was undertaking a noble cause to expose girls to alternative feminine hygiene products like tampons and period cups.

Nyamu explained that she has been on the ground several times delivering and taking up projects that have benefited society.

She, however, faulted companies for forgetting that political figures are humans who impact the community in courses that are bigger than them.

"As for Kotex Kenya, I feel sorry for the backlash you endured yesterday due to my political stand at a time when political temperatures in the country are hot," she apologised.

What is Karen Nyamu's future with the foundation?

The senator maintained that despite the rough patch, her foundation would work diligently to ensure the success of the tampons project.

Nyamu added that nothing excites her and lights her soul like engaging her constituents on the ground to make a difference.

"I wouldn't be where I am if I had listened to my critics and trolls years ago. I only consult the word of God, period," the bullish politician concluded.

What did Karen Nyamu lie about?

The drama started when the politician claimed that she entered a deal with Kotex Kenya to negotiate a deal to supply free tampons to schools in the slums.

Her sentiments led to a backlash on the company's page, with many faulting it for endorsing the controversial politician and threatening to boycott its products.

The company quickly issued a statement denying allegations of ongoing discussions for a possible partnership with the senator.

Kotex emphasised that its commitment remains steadfast in championing women's progress for all Kenyans and does not engage in any political affiliations or endorsements.
