NFL analyst praises Indianapolis Colts as compelling playoff team
As one of the most polarizing teams in the NFL, the Indianapolis Colts have a wide range of expectations going into the new season.
Some believe the Colts are going to compete for a playoff spot with Anthony Richardson back in the mix. Others aren't too bullish on the Colts' chances to end their playoff drought of three consecutive seasons.
Jarrett Bailey of Touchdown Wire believes the Colts are in the former bucket, describing Indy as a compelling playoff team in his NFL tier rankings.
The Colts were put in "Tier 3: Playoff teams" along with the Atlanta Falcons, Jacksonville Jaguars, Pittsburgh Steelers and Chicago Bears. The Houston Texans were in Tier 2 which was described as "Super Bowl bubble" teams.
"Sticking in the AFC South, the Colts are one of my most compelling teams in 2024," Bailey wrote. "With Shane Steichen proving he was definitely the right hire, if Richardson even sniffs his potential, the Colts are going to be very good."
So much of the Colts' season will hinge on the development and health of Richardson that it's difficult to truly know what the team will be capable of.
Richardson's electric dual-threat abilities combined with Steichen's innovative offensive mind make for a fantastic duo as long as the 22-year-old can stay healthy.
The Colts will have a tough division to sift through with the Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars looking like playoff contenders as well.
