Is your favourite primary school hymn now a cool anthem? How audiences are falling back in love with Biblical tunes as Glastonbury revellers belt out Shine Jesus Shine at Worthy Farm

James Partridge performed a set of throwback songs at the festival on ThursdayREAD MORE: Princess Beatrice sings her heart out watching Kings of Leon at BST in Hyde Park with husband Edo

Glastonbury is the topic on everyone's lips today, as the busy annual festival draws to a close.

More than 200,000 people descended on Worthy Farm in Somerset to watch stars such as Dua Lipa, Coldplay and SZA take to the stage.

Even British royalty attended the event, as Princess Beatrice was pictured alongside her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, tucking into concert grub on Sunday.

But it appears you don't have to boast millions of followers and have platinum hits to get the crowd roaring.

James Partridge, who is a freelance singer and teacher, brought the sunshine to cloudy skies by getting thousands involved in belting out nostalgic songs.

He took to the stage last Thursday on day two of the five-day concert and got masses of Brits to sing classic religious songs such as Shine Jesus Shine, Oil in My Lamp, This Little Light Of Mine and He's Got The Whole World In His Hands.

These are typically learnt in primary school and often sung in assembly time, where year groups would get together and learn about Christianity through music.

Tasha Whitley, a travel influencer from Highcliffe, posted a clip from James's set on her social media account.

She wrote: 'Assembly time at Glastonbury. Primary school bangers popped off. Best set of Glasto reliving our childhood.'

The video showed a seat of people of different ages wearing funky festival outfits coming together to sing, dance and clap their hands to classic songs that every British child would have learnt in their youth.

Tasha could be heard singing: 'Shine Jesus, shine, fill this land with the Father's glory.'

She then sang: 'This little light of mine, I'm going to let it shine, let it shine, let it shine,' before panning the camera to her smiling friend, who was also getting involved in the fun.

Another festivalgoer Emily Hurrell also posted a video of James's set and said it was a memory she would cherish forever.

'Singing shine Jesus shine with a few hundred other people will stay with me as a core Glasto [memories forever].'

James could be heard saying into the microphone: 'Yes, so Shine Jesus Shine is the ultimate banger,' a statement that was met with many cheers from the crowd.

He later responded to Emily's post and wrote: 'The most incredible experience ever! Cannot believe I've just performed at Glastonbury. Incredible turnout today, the joy of singing really does unite!'

Another TikTok posted by Elle, a pub singer, showed James on his keyboard singing along to He's Got the Whole World In His Hands as people sat on the grass waving their arms in unison.
