'This is now the LoP': Jaishankar's stinging remarks after Rahul Gandhi's Lok Sabha speech
External affairs minister S Jaishankar on Monday joined his BJP colleagues in criticising Rahul Gandhi after the Congress leader's fiery speech in the Lok Sabha.
Taking to X, Jaishankar said that someone like Rahul Gandhi, who attacks Hindus while professing brotherhood, is now the leader of opposition in the lower house.

"This is now the Leader of Opposition. Who attacks Hindus while professing brotherhood to all. Who disparages the Indian Army’s bravery, while expressing concern for their welfare. Who tears up Cabinet decisions, while preaching respect for Constitution," Jaishankar said.
He added: "Welcome to the politics of the Congress Party."
Jaishankar's strong remarks come after BJP on Monday protested inside and outside Parliament after Rahul said in Lok Sabha that ruling party members are "not Hindus" as they promote division and violence.
Rahul took a swipe at BJP in the Lok Sabha earlier today, saying those who call themselves Hindus are engaged in "violence and hate" round the clock.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi responded to the remarks immediately, saying that Rahul "calling the entire Hindu society" violent is a "serious matter".
Union home minister Amit Shah and other ministers demanded an apology from the Congress leader.
Union health minister and BJP president J P Nadda also lambasted Rahul in a series of posts on X.
"First day, worst show! Lies + Hindu hatred = Rahul Gandhi Ji in Parliament. Third Time Fail LoP has a knack for agitated, flawed logic. His speech today has shown that neither has he understood the mandate of 2024 (his third successive loss) nor does he have any humility," he posted on X.
Nadda said Gandhi "lied" on many counts including matters that concern the countryâ??s "hardworking farmers and brave armed forces".
Union ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw and Kiren Rijiju on Monday accused Rahul Gandhi of denigrating the responsible position of the Leader of Opposition with his "extremely irresponsible" speech in the Lok Sabha.
They also accused the Gandhi of inflicting "grave insult" on the Hindus by allegedly linking them with violence and spreading untruth.
