Kaizer Chiefs new keeper coach happy to work with Nabi at a ‘Big team in Africa’

Kaizer Chiefs new goalkeeper coach Ilyes Mzoughi says he is excited to work alongside Nasreddine Nabi.

Nabi(58) is expected to be announced as the new Amakhosi coach in the next coming days. The Tunisian is bringing along his tehnical team with Mzoughi being one of them. The Tunisian arrived in the country last week and has already assessed his goalkeepers.

Although Mzoughi has never worked with Nabi, he said he was excited to be alongside him at Kaizer Chiefs next season

“Nasreddine Nabi contacted me many times when he was working in Tanzania or even with the Royal Army,” Mzoughi told Tunisian media.

“But it was not possible for me to respond to his request because I was with the Mauritanian national team in the African Nations Cup and the World Cup qualifiers.

“And this time I accepted because I am happy to work alongside Nasreddine Nabi at a big team in Africa, and I wanted to pass on my experience and expertise to many teams in many countries and continents,” he said.

Brandon Petersen, Bruce Bvuma and Bontle Molefe are part of Chiefs’ goalkeeping department. Long-serving keeper Itumeleng Khune is still at the club but his future as a player remains uncertain. With Nabi arriving this week, Kaizer Chiefs will start their preseason training with a trip to Europe.
