'No lessons needed on reverse swing from Sharma'

Former Pakistan cricketer Inzamam-ul-Haq has responded to remarks made by India's captain Rohit Sharma following India's victory over England in the T20 World Cup semi-final.

Inzamam had raised concerns about reverse swing during India's match against Australia, which prompted a response from Rohit during a press conference.

Rohit stated that reverse swing is a natural phenomenon in cricket, influenced by hot weather and dry pitches, affecting all teams equally, not just India.

'What should I say now about this? You are playing in such hot sun, the wicket is so dry, the ball reverses automatically It's happening for all the teams, not only ours. All the teams are reverse-swinging.'

'Sometimes, it's important to open your mind. It's important to understand what conditions you're playing in. The match is not taking place in England or Australia,' Rohit added.

Inzamam, in turn, reacted to Rohit's comments by emphasizing that Rohit doesn't need to educate him on reverse swing.

'I will be open-minded for sure. The first thing is that he (Rohit) has admitted that it's happening. So it means what we observed is correct.

'Second thing, there is no need for Rohit to tell us how reverse swing happens. under how much sun, on what pitch; you don't teach something to someone who actually taught it to the world,' Inzamam added.

Regarding his initial remarks, Inzamam clarified that he was advising umpires to remain vigilant against any potential illegalities, particularly when reverse swing becomes prominent around the 15th over of an innings.

"The reporter asked the wrong question. I gave a suggestion to the umpires, to keep their eyes open because the ball is reverse-swinging in the 15th over. Still my advice to the umpires is the same, keep your eyes open as well as your mind. He (Rohit) just talked about mind, I am saying keep both eyes and mind open," Inzamam added.
