Riyan Parag shares first look in India jersey ahead of debut in Zimbabwe series
Riyan Parag shared the first look of himself in his India team jersey ahead of his national debut in the side's upcoming five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe starting from July 6. Parag is one of the three players, alongside Abhishek Sharma, Tushar Deshpande, who have been selected for their maiden India call up. The 22-year-old got his long-desired shot at making a mark in national colours after showcasing some phenomenal batting performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 for RR.
While the nation is still on with their celebrations for India's 2024 T20 World Cup triumph, a new generation of promising youngsters are already gearing up for a highly-anticipated Zimbabwe series. The Board of Cricket Council of India (BCCI) announced on June 24 that Shubman Gill will lead this young side for the series, and will boast an arsenal comprising Ruturaj Gaikwad, Rinku Singh and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Amongst the selected lot, Parag's name was one of the most noteworthy ones for Indian cricket fans after the batter scored531 runs, including four fifties.
The picture by Riyan Parag, which was also shared by RR's official social media handle, revealed that the batter will be donning the number 12 jersey for India in the Zimbabwe series. Apart from the above-mentioned names, Nitish Reddy was initially called up for the series as another debutant, but will ultimately be replaced by all-rounder Shivam Dube due to an injury. After making his Test debut for India in their England series in January, Dhruv Jurel is all set to play his first T20I in the same series.

The Zimbabwe Cricket Board confirmed India's trip to Harare in a statement on January 6. Zimbabwe will host the 5-match T20I series from July 6 to 14 in Harare.
