Dates, times and TV channels for this year’s All-Ireland SFC semi-finals confirmed by GAA
Croke Park has confirmed details for this year’s All-Ireland SFC semi-finals, with the clash of Kerry and Armagh fixed for Saturday week, July 13 followed by the Galway/Donegal showdown the following Sunday afternoon.
Contrary to some initial speculation that Kerry’s last-four meeting might take place on the Sunday, this will now be the headline Saturday act in Croke Park with a 5.30pm throw-in. The game will be broadcast live on RTÉ and BBC television, and will be preceded by the Tailteann Cup final between Down and Laois (3pm).
Kerry and Armagh haven’t met in the championship since a 2006 quarter-final won by the Kingdom. Then, as now, Jack O’Connor was Kerry manager while Kieran Donaghy, one of his three goalscorers on the day, will now be plotting his native county’s downfall as part of Kieran McGeeney’s Armagh management team.
On Sunday, the focus will switch to the meeting of old friends Pádraic Joyce and Jim McGuinness as Connacht champions Galway face off against their Ulster counterparts Donegal with a 4pm throw-in at GAA HQ. Once again, this semi-final will be televised by both RTÉ and BBC. The All-Ireland junior football final will be played on the Croker undercard.
