Actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who became a household name in the 2010s with her remarkable performances in Telugu and Tamil cinema before making her mark in Bollywood, recently highlighted the significance of maintaining a healthy diet on her podcast, "Take20." Shortly after the episode aired, an online commenter criticized Samantha for promoting healthy eating now, despite having endorsed unhealthy food and beverage brands in the past.

This criticism struck a chord with Samantha. In response, she candidly admitted, "I have made mistakes in the past when I did not know any better, but I have stopped accepting many endorsements. I believe in practicing what I preach."

Samantha, who has been battling myositis—a rare autoimmune disease that causes muscle inflammation—took a six-month hiatus last year to prioritize her health. She emphasizes that health and fitness have become central to her life, and she hopes to inspire her followers to adopt healthier lifestyles.

"Given how much I have learned, it is hard to now unsee things that I might have not been aware of earlier. Whether it is my choice of food or brands, my entire ethos is now focused on a healthy life,” says Samantha, who was diagnosed with myositis in 2022. She acknowledges the necessity of doing the right thing and striving for betterment.

Returning to the big screen in 2023 with the film "Kushi" alongside Vijay Deverakonda, Samantha elaborates, "While my choices may seem less than ideal to most, since brands do have a commercial impact on us, I am working towards ensuring that I now align with only those brands that are equally committed to life and well-being. I do my research and try to use the products myself before I endorse them.”
