'Nayanthara Was A Wrong Choice': Director Sekhar Kammula On 2014 Film Anaamika

'nayanthara was a wrong choice': director sekhar kammula on 2014 film anaamika

Sekhar Kammula made Anaamika with Nayanthara in 2014.

Actress Nayanthara is one of the most prominent actresses in the film industry. She is still a popular name even after over twenty years in the industry, being one of the highest-paid actresses in India.

Director Sekhar Kammula once said that the film Anaamika should not have been made with Nayanthara. The director made the women-oriented film with Nayanthara in 2014. It is a Telugu remake of the Bollywood film Kahaani. Along with Nayanthara, the film also stars Vaibhav Reddy, Pasupathy and Harshvardhan Rane.

The director said that the film was a mistake for him. At a time when the Nirbhaya incident created a stir across the country, he wanted to do a women-oriented film. He said that the remake of the film was because of the lack of the story. He felt that if an actor like Nayanthara comes, it will be improved. But Shekhar directly said that the film should not have been made with stars like Nayanthara. Moreover, he admitted his failure and that he made hasty decisions due to the Nirbhaya incident at that time. The film Anaamika failed at the box office.

Nayanthara married director Vignesh Shivan two years ago and the couple was blessed with two sons after their grand wedding. Even after marriage, this actress is acting in back-to-back films. Currently, she has two Tamil and one Telugu film in her hands. Reportedly, she charged up to Rs 12 crore per film.

The actress made her acting debut with the Malayalam film Manassinakkare in 2003. She made her debut in Tamil cinema in 2005 with the film Ayya and in Telugu cinema in 2006 with Lakshmi. She acted in more than 70 films and won numerous awards, such as the Filmfare Awards South, the Tamil Nadu State Film Award and SIIMA Awards.

The actress made her Hindi film debut last year with Jawan opposite Shah Rukh Khan. She scored a big hit with her first film. After this, she acted in the film Annapoorani, which was directed by Nilesh Krishnaa.

Amidst all this, the actress recently made some sensational comments about one of the bumper hits of her career, Ghajini. She said that it was her worst choice in life to act in the film.
