‘Shortfall of supply’ in energy predicted to hit Australia around 2035

Rennie Advisory’s Matt Rennie says he is predicting there will be a “shortfall of supply” in the energy sector during the “mid-2035-2040 period”.

“When we look at what we should be doing now as a nation is really thinking about what we’ll do in the event that our plans don’t come off,” he told Sky News host Chris Kenny.

“Certainly, the renewables and battery and hydro future is one that everybody’s prosecuting as fast as they can, and they should.

“We should be building as much transmission as we can; we should be building as many renewables as we can.”
