As the newly appointed Leader of the Opposition, Gandhi launched a scathing critique targeting the BJP, RSS, and Prime Minister Modi in the Lok Sabha on July 1.
Rahul Gandhi, initiating the debate on the Motion of Thanks to the President's Address from the Opposition, sparked controversy with his remark that "those who call themselves Hindus only speak about violence".

>> On arrests of Opposition leaders: "There has been a systematic and full-scale assault on the idea of India, the Constitution, and on the people who resisted the attack on the Constitution. >> On RSS and Hinduism: "All our great men have spoken about non-violence...But, those who call themselves Hindu only talk about violence, hatred, untruth…Aap Hindu ho hi nahi...The BJP, the RSS or Modi are not the entire Hindu society".

>> On Agniveer scheme: "Agniveer is a use and throw labour. One jawan is getting a pension, while another is not. You are creating a divide between jawans".
>> On NEET-UG exam paper leak: "Narendra Modi, as usual, is maintaining silence on the tampering with the future of more than 24 lakh students in the NEET examination. The arrests made in Bihar, Gujarat, and Haryana clearly show that there has been organised corruption in the examination in a planned manner and these BJP-ruled states have become the epicentre of the paper leak".
