New Wotsits and Monster Munch flavours launch but shoppers spot 'sneaky' catch
Walkers has introduced new flavours of beloved favourites Wotsits and Monster Munch across UK stores today - but there is a catch.
The new flavours for Wotsits include Crispy Bacon and Cheese Toastie while the new Monster Munch flavour is BBQ Sauce. The new flavours come as part of Walker's new lower salt range called "Yummy With". The products are made with chickpeas and contain 25% less salt than their normal counterparts. The products also come in at under 100 calories. Walkers - which is owned by Pepsico - is planning to make 50% of its sales from snacks that are non-HFSS (high in fat, salt and sugar) or under 100 calories by 2025.
The new products will be sold as multipacks and will include six packets weighing in at 12g each. According to the Grocer Magazine, the multipacks will retail at around £2 each and will be available at the majority of UK supermarket stores. However, as well as less salt, you're also getting less crisp.

The Wotsits have a similar retail price to a regular multipack - but you get less crisp as the regular pack consists of packets weighing in at 16.5g. It’s the same story with the new Monster Munch with the weight sitting at 16g compared with 20g packets in regular multipacks.
Walkers senior brand manager Phoebe Chapman said: "We know consumers are on the hunt for smarter snacking options, but they aren’t willing to compromise on taste. Over several years, we’ve meticulously crafted the range to perfect the formulation, aligning with the beloved light and airy texture that consumers adore.”
Shoppers have noticed the change in weight with discussions arising on social media. Referring to the weight change, one X - formerly Twitter - user said: "Came here to see if this was the case. 12 grams! I presume the cost hasn't come down 25% too!". Another shopper shared their thoughts in a post on Facebook: "You get 8 wotsits in each bag for 12g I wouldn't waste your money you'd eat the whole 6 packs." Another added: "Bit pricy at £2.25 just for 6 packs and for less crisps too". A fourth said: "Bit sneaky that".
