A video shared online by the Press Trust of India shows a white car trapped in a large crater that developed on a road in Gandhinagar after heavy rain lashed the city in Gujarat on Sunday.
Gujarat has been experiencing heavy rain, which has disrupted normal life in several cities. Ahmedabad and Surat have been particularly affected, with waterlogging causing major traffic disruptions. Palsana, in Surat district, recorded the highest rain in the state—153 mm in just 10 hours.
Reacting to the video, an X user wrote, “While the Gujarat model faces challenges, accountability lies not just with the system but also with those who once claimed credit for its inauguration. Let’s demand transparency, media diligence, and active citizen participation.” A second user said, “Are the roads of Gujarat so weak?” And a third user commented, “Shameless people just standing there and not helping.”
A fourth user replied, “Yeh toh ice cream ban gaaya.... Gujrat waalo yeh waala video baana kar reels banao aur khud ka followers increase karlo.!!(It turned into an ice cream... People of Gujarat, make reels with this video and increase your followers!!).

The heavy rain has also caused significant problems in other cities such as Bhuj, Vapi, and Bharuch, where many roads and underpasses have become inaccessible due to flooding, severely affecting traffic.
According to the India Meteorological Department, the wet weather is expected to continue for the next four days, with more rain forecast across the state.
